Asiatics are genetically closest to Rocambole, Porcelain and Purple Stripe.  These bulbs can grow to a good size without the removal of the scape.

Bulbs have a tendency to be striped with lines that run from top to bottom.  Cloves are very firm.  The clove skins are thick and glossy.

Asiatics, like the Turbans, mature very suddenly, just ahead of Artichokes.  Asiatics should be harvested just as soon as the leaves begin to brown.  Asiatics can store for up to 4 months.  One pound of seed may produce about 40+ plants.
